Liquefact (EU) – QuakeCoRE (NZ)

International Workshop on “Assessment and Mitigation of Liquefaction Risk”

A bi-lateral workshop has been organized in Nelson (New Zealand) to present to the New Zealand Scientific Community the results of the studies carried out in the Liquefact Project and to illustrate the most recent studies carried out by the QuakeCoRe Institution on the assessment of liquefaction risk and on the strategies for mitigation. The presentations and the following discussion have dealt with different aspects of liquefaction, from advanced laboratory tests to the analysis of case studies and the implementation of strategies for the identification of risk on large areas to the design of ground improvement techniques. The meeting, attended by about 60 people coming from worldwide academic and professional institutions, has been an interesting occasion for a fruitful exchange of experiences and to outline the future perspectives of the research.
